IFHE and BBS Announce The Khudairi Group Scholarship

We are happy to announce The Khudairi Group Scholarship, which will go to support one student’s tuition and costs for the 2020-2021 academic year at Baghdad Business School (BBS).

The Khudairi family traces its roots in Iraq back over 300 years ago and has been a prominent business leader in the country for the past 100 years. Khudairi Group works in multiple industries: oil and gas, heavy machinery, and distribution. They have 450 employees from Baghdad to Dubai to Houston. BBS is a ten-month program in English Language, Professional Development Skills, and Business Fundamentals designed to enable Iraqi university graduates to work in the private sector for companies like The Khudairi Group. Scholarships like this enable BBS to enroll students from all socioeconomic backgrounds, and support and partnerships from Iraqi’s private sector companies is key to the School’s development and expansion.

Said Subhi Khudairi, President of The Khudairi Group, “Education is a core pillar of our family values. It has provided opportunities for generations before us and continues to result in the betterment of our lives today.  With this scholarship, we want to share this gift with others who will make a better life for their future.”

Christine van den Toorn, President of Iraq Fund for Higher Education (IFHE), the nonprofit which administers BBS, said “scholarships like this from private sector companies operating in Iraq are crucial to BBS growth, and allows us to admit more students, which means more educated and employable and empowered Iraqi youth.”
